Find a Simple Way to Get More Email Opt-ins

Now, one of the key things that most website owners really want, and that most most of our clients come to us looking for are for us to build a lead generating website that gets a lot of opt-ins.

One of the most important lessons and things you need to understand when it comes to generating leads from your website is it starts with the email opt-ins to get onto your email database so that you can begin a conversation and lead them down a path of choosing to either buying something without getting off-on to the phone with you or to make an enquiry and talk to someone about your services.

Start Utilising A Two-Step Opt-in Process

Something we’ve been doing a lot recently and it has seen an increase in opt-ins of over 308% in some of our testing. That is utilising what is known as a two-step opt-in process.

The Normal Way…

So normally what most people do is build a website with the actual opt-in form on the page. You can see the fields that need to be filled in and a submit button.

The 2 Step Opt-In Way…

You will notice on this site and on many of our client’s sites that they have a button as a call to action, saying Click Here, or a request of consult, or a download button.

Then, here’s where the magic happens, when people click on that button, up pops a light box asking for them to give some information. This is usually minimal information maybe just an email address, or maybe both the name and email.

Why?

The reason why we do this is because we use a psychological trigger known as the “Law of Consistency”.

Here’s How the Law of Consistency Works.

When people click the button, they think there’s nothing they really need to give in exchange for the free thing you are offering, that they can just download it or read it right away.  At the moment they click that button they are saying, ‘Yes, I want it’ to themselves.

When all the sudden, the light box comes up and they need to put in some information. They already said ‘Yes, I want it’ so when we have already started to tell ourselves a story we are highly likely to act consistently with that story we’ve told ourselves. So due to the Law of Consistency many people (be aware not all) will continue the process and complete the form.

As I said earlier, our studies and testing that we have done have shown in some cases an increase over 308% on opt-ins online.
